Shri Datta Shikshan Prasarak Mandal, Jamgaon was established in 1992 by Late Ramchandra Dhas (Dada) to make modern education accessible to rural students who otherwise had to travel to cities like Ahmednagar, Pune, Beed and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. In the same year, the trust started Nivruttirao Dhas Higher Secondary School & Junior College at Jamgaon, offering Arts and Science from Class 5 to 12. Today, this institution educates over 1,000 students. To serve neighboring communities, an Arts & Science Junior College at Khadkat was opened in 2004.
Recognizing the growing need for higher education, the trust expanded to Ashti. In June 2010, it started Swami Vivekanand Junior College (Science) and the Arts & Science College (Senior). The senior college now offers B.A. and B.Sc. programs across about 21 subjects, many of which were previously unavailable in Ashti, thereby meeting the aspirations of local students and parents.
With strong demand for careers in computing, Hon. Devidas (Aba) Dhas and Suresh (Anna) Dhas founded the Nalanda College in Ashti. The college obtained affiliation with Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (Dr. B.A.M.U.) in 2009 and enrolled around 142 students last year. Students study contemporary subjects from the B.C.S. syllabus, and 35+ graduates have already been placed in private and government sectors. Guided by its founders’ vision, the institute continues to attract learners from across Maharashtra.
The winds of change are sweeping the world, and the Information Technology revolution of the last few decades has transformed how we live, learn, and work. Every sector—industry, society, and government—now relies on technology. The key challenge for education in India is to integrate IT into the curriculum and classroom practice so that our youth are empowered to function effectively in an increasingly technology-driven world. With e-Governance and initiatives like e-Choupal reaching villages, opportunities in IT are expanding rapidly across rural India as well.
Nalanda College of B.C.S. has embraced this challenge with a commitment to equity and quality. Our young and experienced faculty focus on real-world readiness through seminars, workshops, conferences, group discussions, aptitude tests, and project-based learning. Alongside technology, we emphasize values and character—nurturing national integration, patriotism, social responsibility, and strong communication skills. I invite all who share our vision to join hands in building a capable career of technology professionals and a stronger community, society, and India.
